About MaggotKibble

Maggot (it/its), who goes by MaggotKibble online, is a transmasculine furry* artist born in 1999. Starting its art journey by teaching itself to draw the household cats, Maggot's artistic ambitions continue to grow. During the last two years of high school, Maggot enrolled into an early college program that allowed it to graduate high school with not just a diploma in hand, but an Associate's Degree in Art as well. After obtaining its first degree, it obtained credits toward a Bachelor's in Game Design as well, before leaving due to COVID complications.Maggot has an affinity for art aimed to comfort the disturbed, promotes discussing misunderstood topics, and is brave enough to prioritize quality and integrity above being palatable to a general audience. In its own work, Maggot strives to reflect these goals with the use of anthropomorphic animals to create abstractions of the idea of identity, horror to overcome the scariest parts of reality, and insects & arachnids to highlight parts of nature that are not as openly embraced.

*Furry: Someone with an affinity towards characters that are anthropomorphic (animals with human-like characteristics); they often identify with such characters, and may dress up in costumes of them.

Putrefaction

Clip Studio Paint, 2025

"Putrefaction," named after the organic matter's process of decay, is a digital painting that is meant to show the cycle of how scavengers inevitably clean up after tragedy and other things bloom out of it.The painting shows multiple stages of this abstract depiction of decomposition simultaneously. The light shows an injury actively happening, made focal with its saturated red & yellow halo. The portion of the limb in the dark has flies and plants eating away at it. The blood gushing from the wrist contradicts the portion resembling a decaying corpse to show that they are at different points in the process of putrefaction.

Plushie Brush

Clip Studio Paint, 2025

This spread was part of a one week internet art challenge by Fourleafisland that can be found here. My entries demonstrated my ability to adapt a character to a theme while keeping the original design recognizable. This particular entry was for the second day of the challenge. The goal of this piece was to make Whisper's design themed around plush toys. The colors, perceived texture & adjusted motifs were made to be softer. The spilling poly-fill shows a bit of imperfection and serves as a background to the different drawings, and looping through the antennae needles is a long thread, sewing all the parts into one whole.

Swarm

Clip Studio Paint, 2026

"Swarm" is a portrait of Whisper depicting a reflection of myself, and how creating personal pieces feels vulnerable. Only a fraction of the thought process that leads to the creation of the piece comes to light, and what remains in the dark is a swarm of buzzing intensity.Depicted is Whisper holding a toy maggot to its chest as it is looking behind itself in a friable expression. Only slivers of light cut diagonally through the portrait, highlighting the focal points of the pose. Remaining in the shadows of the piece is the rest of Whisper, along with the background of spiked circular motion coming from the head with swarms of fly silhouettes.
